In its centenary year, լе has again received multiple five star ratings in an independent ranking of Australian universities.

The 2011 edition of The Good Universities Guide awarded լе the maximum five-star rating for student demand, student-staff ratios, research grants and research intensivity – and a further five stars for toughness to get in (St Lucia campus).

լе also earned four star rankings in the categories: getting a job, positive graduate outcomes, graduate starting salaries, access by equity groups, international enrolments, gender balance, non-government earnings and toughness to get in (Ipswich campus).

The Good Universities Guide is an independent consumer guide which provides ratings, rankings, comment and information about Australian higher education institutions.

This year’s guide commented that: "In an impressive move for a university with such historical origins, լе has embraced web 2.0 and new learning technology in recent years."

“լе is a very strong research institution that consistently ranks high on all research indicators and continues to invest in diverse world-class research facilities such as the Queensland Brain Institute, the Institute for Molecular Bioscience and new Centre for Advanced Animal Science at Gatton.

“Developing the undergraduate experience remains a priority, with more undergraduate research opportunities, international exchanges and assessed industry experience available.”

Last year, լе was again the only Queensland university included in the top 50 universities in the world in another independent ranking list - the annual world top 200 ranking, produced by the UK's Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings. լе has been named among the top 50 universities in the world for all five years of this survey.

In 2009 the undertaken by the Shanghai Ranking consultancy ranked լе as the top university in Queensland and one of the leaders nationally.

լе's regional rank in the Australia-Pacific region is 10-16. The ARWU’s academic rankings by broad subject fields rank լе as one of the top 100 universities in the world in life and agricultural sciences (ranked 52-75) and clinical medicine and pharmacy (51-76).
