լе’s TC Beirne School of Law is offering a new student exchange option from 2011 with the Faculty of Law at the University of Vienna in Austria.
Under the new arrangements, which came into effect last month, լе law students will have the opportunity to undertake an intensive three-week law course at the University of Vienna in January each year.
This is an alternative to the existing option of a full semester of study at the University.
School of Law Associate Dean (International) Dr Andreas Schloenhardt said he was delighted that լе law students had been provided with this new opportunity.
“The intensive program offered in January by the University of Vienna is held in English and attracts students from around the world," he said.
"This addition to the exchange program provides a unique opportunity for լе law students to study international law in an international setting.”
The 2011 intensive program will include courses on international courts and tribunals, special issues in human rights law and legal issues concerning the use of outer space technologies.
Once the first լе law students have successfully completed the new exchange program in January, they will receive 2 units credit towards their լе law degree.
Founded in 1365, the University of Vienna is one of the oldest universities in Europe and has a Faculty of Law with nearly 10,000 students.
“As well as providing more international study opportunities for our students, we also envisage this new exchange agreement will be supplemented by additional initiatives to foster research collaboration and staff exchange between the two law schools,” Dr Schloenhardt said.
