Customs House has won the National Savour Australia Awards for Function/Convention Centre Caterer, and Caterer of the Year.
The awards are the latest in Customs House’s growing collection: in August it was crowned Caterer of the Year at the 2016 Queensland and Northern Territory Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence.
The heritage-listed University of Queensland venue in Brisbane CBD holds a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors, and director Brian Roberts has praised all those who contributed to the latest awards.
“We work with a continuous improvement process,” Mr Roberts said.
“We are never of the mindset that just because we won awards one year that we can rest on our laurels.
“Of course, yes, we recognise we are at a certain level, yet there is always room for improvement. We are always examining our product, looking at our food to see where our menus can evolve, and addressing our training needs to see what our team needs,” Mr Roberts said.
Mr Roberts is passionate about defining his vision and goals with his staff.
“It is more than a vision of excellence,” he said.
“I want every guest who comes through here to have an extremely memorable experience so that they want to come back again and again.”
This year Õ¬Äе¼º½ refurbished the lower level adjacent to the restaurant.
The refurbishment provided an edge over the competitors as the River Room is the only contemporary event space inside a heritage building in Brisbane.
“It is important to keep the venue looking fresh,” Mr Roberts said.
He attributes Customs House’s latest awards to a combination of vision, passion, trust and a team that love their work.
