Õ¬Äе¼º½ continues to cement its place among the world’s top 50 universities, with its strengths in life sciences and clinical and pre-clinical health recognised by the Times Higher Education subject rankings.

The rankings, which have been released over the past six weeks, place Õ¬Äе¼º½’s subjects at 32nd globally (second in Australia) and Õ¬Äе¼º½’s subjects at 43rd globally (fourth in Australia).

Õ¬Äе¼º½ also ranked highly in the field, placing 54th internationally and second in Australia.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Joanne Wright said the rankings were a reflection of Õ¬Äе¼º½’s high standards and excellent facilities.

“Our clinical and pre-clinical health programs offer practical experience and access to world-class facilities, ensuring our students are resilient and well-rounded graduates,” she said.

“Students in our life sciences programs learn from academics and teachers who are working to better understand human health and develop solutions to some of the world’s toughest issues, inspiring students to create change in the world around them.

“I’m particularly pleased to see our engineering and technology programs rank so highly, as the recent report stated that science, technology, engineering and mathematics competency was vital for our future workforce.”

In , Õ¬Äе¼º½ was ranked 90th globally, and sixth nationally.

Professor Wright said changes to the THE rankings had been a factor in Australian universities facing a downward trend in the rankings this year, but Õ¬Äе¼º½ continued to show impressive results.

“An additional 400 universities were ranked this year, double that of previous years, ensuring that these rankings are truly global,” Professor Wright said.

“To have Õ¬Äе¼º½ still place within the top 100 in four of the six categories ranked is a remarkable achievement and a powerful indicator of the excellence we offer our students as we help them become knowledge leaders for a better world.”
