Õ¬Äе¼º½’s expertise in agriculture places it among the world’s top 10 agricultural science research organisations, according to the latest (NTU) rankings.
The NTU rankings are one of four major independent measures widely used to evaluate university performance based on scientific papers, research productivity, impact and excellence.
While Õ¬Äе¼º½ is ranked 56th globally overall in the latest NTU rankings, its rank for agricultural science has now moved into the world’s top 10.
Õ¬Äе¼º½ Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation Director, said the strength of research in agriculture was flowing through to the university’s ability to deliver a world’s top 10 education in agricultural science for graduate and post-graduate students.
“The rankings show strength across-the-board, reflecting consistently strong performances in allied disciplines such as environmental science and ecology, which also have world-class programs at Õ¬Äе¼º½,” he said.
“In terms of geography, Õ¬Äе¼º½ is ideally located to specialise in agricultural research that directly effects a growing percentage of the global population.”
“Unlike some universities around the world, many of our programs focus on research questions in a tropical or sub-tropical environment,” Professor Henry said.
“Moreover, Õ¬Äе¼º½ enjoys a high profile in agricultural science nationally and internationally because we have world-class research programs behind high-quality publications.”
“Being ranked in the world’s top 10 agricultural research organisations will not go unnoticed by undergraduate or postgraduate students around the world.”
According to NTU, Õ¬Äе¼º½’s rank for agricultural science has moved up from 25th place (2010) to 10th place in October 2014, an improvement of 15 places in four years.
