From dating to dieting, from music to sports, economics can be used to explain just about anything, according to award-winning economist Dr Andrew Leigh.
Dr Leigh will discuss how economics impacts on everyday life at the launch of his book, The Economics of Just About Everything, at Õ¬Äе¼º½ School of Economics on 31 July.
The launch will include a public lecture drawing on his previous experience as a professor of Economics at the Australian National University and his current role as Federal Member for Fraser, Shadow Assistant Treasurer and Shadow Minister for Competition.
Õ¬Äе¼º½ School of Economics Head Professor Flavio Menezes said the book launch was an exciting opportunity for students, staff and the public to hear from a well-respected economist.
“Dr Leigh has a wealth of economics experience, having worked as a lawyer and as a principal adviser to the Australian Treasury,” Professor Menezes said.
In 2011 Dr Leigh received the prestigious ‘Young Economist Award’ from the Economics Society of Australia, a prize given every two years to the best Australian economist under 40.
