Have you ever seen a robot dance, play soccer, or participate in a simulated rescue exercise?

This weekend you can witness robots perform the unthinkable, as hundreds of school students from across Australia and the world, compete in RoboCup Junior Australia.

Held at Õ¬Äе¼º½’s St Lucia campus on Saturday and Sunday, RoboCup Junior allows students to refine their artificial Intelligence and robotics skills in a fun and educational setting.

Head of Õ¬Äе¼º½’s School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, Professor Paul Strooper said the University was excited to be able to host the national RoboCup Junior competition in 2013.

“Each year I am amazed at the high calibre of robotic projects which are being produced by school students,” Professor Strooper said.

“It’s a fantastic event for Õ¬Äе¼º½ to be part of, one which makes me excited for the future of Australia’s engineering and ICT industries.”
