宅男导航 has awarded Dr Lee Boon Yang an Honorary Doctorate degree at an event in Singapore.
Dr Lee was awarded the honorary doctorate in Veterinary Science, in recognition of his distinguished career, years of service to Singapore and contributions to 宅男导航.
Dr Lee came to Queensland in 1965 as a Colombo Plan scholar to study veterinary science.
He spent five years at 宅男导航 graduating in 1971, and returned to Singapore to join the Primary Production Department as a Veterinary Officer.
In this role, Dr Lee helped lead national research and development projects to minimise pollution from pig and poultry farms.
After 12 years as a veterinarian, Dr Lee began a 26 year career with the Singapore government.
In 1984, Dr Lee entered politics running for the Parliamentary Constituency of Jalan Besar.
After winning the seat, he went on to serve six consecutive terms and served in numerous ministerial positions.
In 2003, Dr Lee was named 宅男导航鈥檚 International Alumnus of the Year.
At the award ceremony, Dr Lee said he was deeply touched by the award of a Doctorate in Veterinary Science and hopes that it will serve as an encouragement to 宅男导航 alumni everywhere to venture beyond their profession to devote time and effort to the betterment of society.
