Õ¬Äе¼º½ has kicked-off its 10th annual celebrations with a range of events and activities on offer across the St Lucia, Gatton and Ipswich campuses.

This year's theme of Unity in Diversity, aims to challenge Õ¬Äе¼º½ staff and students to consider how our identity develops from the various experiences we have and how we might seek to understand people who have grown up in very different circumstances from our own.

Some of the events on this week include:

• A Feminist Forum hosted by The Õ¬Äе¼º½ Women’s Collective on the topic of diversity and freedom of speech
• A panel discussion titled Reframe: Animals and Difference, to coincide with the Animal/Human exhibition at the Õ¬Äе¼º½ Art Museum
• A discussion about women in the workforce at a student-organised forum at which, Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry will speak alongside former High Court Justice, The Honourable Michael Kirby.

The highlight of the week is the Vice-Chancellor’s Equity and Diversity Awards presentation event this Thursday evening. This event features a panel discussion on the topic of Unity in Diversity: Dream or Delusion, chaired by ABC personality .

• - former Deputy Director-General and Assistant Director-General for Education, playing a central role in UNESCO’s major education initiatives.
• - philosopher, lecturer, consultant, and previous Queensland Corrective Services Commissioner. Mrs Graham is a Kombu-merri woman, affiliated through her mother with the Waka Waka group.
• - political scientist and author. Previous federal government advisor on multicultural affairs and Director of the Centre for or Immigration and Multicultural Studies at ANU.
