լе Health Care expands Ipswich GP services with the appointment of four new doctors to the clinic.

The clinic, initially funded through the Commonwealth Government’s GP Super Clinics initiative, establishes a brand new clinic for the entire Ipswich community, within լе’s Ipswich Campus.

լе Health Care General Practitioner, Dr Simon Barnett is a well-know Ipswich General Practitioner, with a wealth of experience in both rural and urban General Practice.

“Working at լе Health Care is an opportunity to work with a progressive, innovative team, to provide best practice care for my existing patients and also to provide care for new members of the community,” Dr Barnett said.

Dr Barnett’s particular interests include paediatrics, sports injuries and emergency medicine.

He tutors at լе, is a former chair of the Ipswich and West Moreton Division of General Practice and is an accredited trainer of GP registrars.

“I’m Ipswich born and bred and see Ipswich as a vibrant community which will continue to grow. I am committed to the area and my patients,” Dr Barnett said.

Dr Rob Kielty also recently started as a General Practitioner at լе Health Care Ipswich.

Dr Kielty, originally from the United Kingdom, divides his time equally between working in General Practice and tutoring at լе.

Doctors who are conducting sessions at the clinic include Dr Denis Bartrum, a General Practitioner with special interests in skin conditions and Dr Syed Shah, Youth Psychiatrist, with more sessions available for other doctors.

Nursing staff and access to allied health professionals, pathology and pharmacy services are also available.

լе Health Care Ipswich will continue to recruit new staff, including GPs and allied health practitioners, over coming months.

լе Health Care Ipswich is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm. Extended weekend opening hours are planned for early 2011.

The clinic operates on a not-for-profit basis, offering bulk-billing through Medicare for patients under 16, over 65, concession card holders and Australian Defence Force families.

լе Health Care is a wholly-owned business of լе.

In creating լе Health Care, լе will introduce new models of General Practice-based care, focusing on wellbeing and prevention, while supporting the local health community in complex patient management.
