The spirit of Michael Jackson lives on in the hearts and feet of լе students competing in the MS Moonwalking Competition at St Lucia on September 23.
As part of their course requirements, a group of լе PR students is working for MS Australia-Queensland to build awareness of the disease and raise funds to support research.
They have also been tasked with encouraging more students to register for MS Australia-Queensland’s annual fundraising event – – happening on October 22.
Student Toya Carter is already rehearsing MJ’s signature moves in preparation for the competition.
“I’m watching tutorials on YouTube to help perfect my technique,” she said.
“We’re all really excited about the moonwalking competition. It’s a great way to have fun while raising awareness about MS.
“It will be on at the same time as the weekly karaoke night and entry is free, so we are expecting a great turnout.”
Ms Carter said she hoped students who attended the competition also registered for the Moonlight Walk.
“Students don’t usually attend this event so our group is hoping to change that,” she said.
Those who register for the Moonlight Walk before September 24 will also receive a discount.
The moonwalking competition starts at 6 pm in , լе’s student bar, with prizes on offer for the winners.
