Learning how to plan a successful QTAC application, hearing about scholarships and exchange opportunities and getting tips from current uni students are all options for anyone attending the St Lucia on Sunday, August 1.
Visitors to Open Day can explore the St Lucia campus, check out the world-class facilities, learn more about the unique courses and career options, meet inspiring teachers and staff and experience the vibrant campus lifestyle.
Event Manager Justine Greig said Open Day was the perfect opportunity for students and their families to gain an insight into university life.
“Staff and current students will be available to give advice and answer any questions about studying at լе in 2011,” she said.
“Potential students can get a sense of campus life and see whether լе is the right place for them.
“It’s also a chance to enjoy some great entertainment and have a fantastic day out.”
Visitors can plan their own personalised itinerary of activities via the Open Day website at .
Live entertainment will feature in the Great Court, including the լе Big Band performing swing classics, student bands, Brisbane-based artist Nick Hutchinson, the Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble, as well as markets in the Union area.
Visitors to Open Day can also take part in the walk on water experiment in the Great Court, be an on-the-spot reporter and report the news live in the լе Centre, and visit the B105 tent for freebies and competitions.
Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy the big BBQ in the Great Court, satisfy their sweet tooth at the լе Union Lolly Shop, relax at the famous Red Room Bar and Grill, or order a gourmet pizza from the popular Pizza Caffe.
, 2006 Australian of the Year and co-creator of the cervical cancer vaccine, will share his top tips on how to live a long and healthy life during a seminar in the Abel Smith Lecture Theatre.
Some of the St Lucia Open Day tours include: the լе library, the Anthropology Museum, the RD Milns Antiquities Museum, լе Sport, the engineering precinct, the լе Anatomy Museum and the University Art Museum.
Those interested in seeing լе’s on-campus accommodation options can join a tour of the 10 residential colleges, with buses departing every 10 minutes.
Animal lovers can attend the լе Small Animal Clinic and participate in hospital tours, view vet pathology and anatomy displays as well as attend the Faculty of Natural Resources, Agriculture and Veterinary Science (NRAVS) village in the Great Court.
լе's Open Day activities are held throughout August, with events scheduled for Ipswich and Gatton later in the month.
