On Monday and Tuesday this week, there were major disruptions to traffic coming into the St Lucia Campus via Sir Fred Schonell Drive.
This was due to a non-University project where a private contractor was installing gas lines across Sir Fred Schonell Drive near the Walcott Street T-intersection.
The contractor was issued with a Brisbane City Council (BCC) permit for the road closures and the project is beyond the control of the University.
It is expected that there will be no further traffic problems after today and Property & Facilities are following up with the BCC as to why the permit was issued during peak commuting times and to ensure that consultation with the University occurs prior to future permits being issued.
