Helping people from all walks of life feel happy and healthy is the focus of the , which celebrates 25 years of operation in 2010.

Formerly known as The Behaviour Research and Therapy Centre, the clinic offers individual, couple, family and group psychotherapy to people of all ages, and has assisted 8000 clients since 1986.

Treatment is provided by advanced trainees under the supervision of experienced and qualified clinical psychologists.

“We pride ourselves on providing a quality service at affordable rates – we want to ensure our services are available to many,” Clinic Manager Dr Ruth Bouma said.

“Our services include group treatment programs, couples therapy, neuropsychological assessment, and individual counselling for conditions not provided for under the Medicare scheme”.

Clinic Director Dr Paul Harnett said more than 400 psychologists had been trained in the 25 years of operation.

“The clinic has been important in contributing to the workforce of highly qualified professionals who work in Queensland Health, private practice and many other positions nationally and internationally,” Dr Harnett said.

“Many graduates from the program maintain links with the clinic working as a supervising psychologist to help train the therapists of the future.”

In recent years the լе Psychology Clinic has introduced state of the art monitoring of client progress during therapy, with research showing participants report far less distress after completing a series of sessions.

In addition to its work with mental health issues, the clinic also uses therapies to promote positive thinking and stress reduction.
